try starting on small waters 1st kidda use bait like sweetcorn bread luncheon meet just things that are cheep try float fishing next to reed beds and things like that you dont need all this deer gear to catch carp and if your ever stuck for somewear go ill gladly take you around our end iam only an hr from preston and am very lucky to have some very good small ponds with good heads of carp to fish also put a starlight on your float and fish into dark if thats a no go try 1st light in the morn

 

kk thankyou. i no a pond near to my house but the people who own it have said if ur under 16 u cant go unless your with someone over 16 because of people chuckin stones at the fish

get yourself a carp reel and rod, put a boylie on a rig and cast out you will be suprised what happens mate...

 

i have two carp rods and reels. wat the best type of boile to use e.g. wat flavour

were i go tutti frutti is the best in the day and the source is the best at night but they both work well were ever i go

Doesnt matter what bait you use, you will catch carp.... there is a fishing complex just outside of preston, cant remember name but i will find out. It hold specimen bream. Soi filled in for these in the hope of a double figure bream, instead i had just under 200lb of carp!! Thats the place you want to be to get used to them. It was all natural, ie: caster, hemp, corn, worm in a mix. Carp are greedy and fat, fill it in, and hold on to your rod. Fish 1 rod on your alarm, and i would advice tipping on the other with mid range lines and hooks , much more fun, and better fights, as it can get pretty boring wiping carp out one after the other on heavy gear.

Local knowledge is the most important thing you need

ask about the lake in your tackle shop and people who fish it

this will let you know what the best bait , swim ,time of day etc

when you go to your local lake take your time and plummet around the margin there are is usually a drop off a couple of feet out put a plummet weight on if your float fishing and fish just touching bottom now the waters warming up feed micro pellets and fish a 6mm pellet on the hook or fish bread and feed liquidised bread this should get you a few fish if the weathers hot try early morning or around tea time good luck i catch more carp float fishing this way than most carp lads using three rods with boilies. ..john
