salukiwhippet 6
What airgun is it? Trigger mechs vary massively and there's no one answer for all of em! The vast majority of 12ft/lb airguns are designed to run at 12ft/lb and no more, most springers will only go to 15ft/lb tops and most will become very hold sensitive at that. I'm also not sure how he'll come off legally doing the work himself and adding the rifle to his FAC. PCP is the best bet for FAC power. James Quote Link to post

cbw 4
Hi James, quick question.......what does "hold sensitive" mean? CBW Edited April 7, 2009 by cbw Quote Link to post
salukiwhippet 6
Hi mate. Exactly what it says on the tin! Springers obviously move when they're fired, and the way in which they move is effected by the way you hold them. My BSA Lightning is very sensitive indeed, If you hold it just resting in your arms, it will do one hole groups at 20 yards, if you hold it tight, the groups open up to 2 inches! Higher powered springers are worse for it, presumably due to the violence of the action. Webley Patriots are supposed to be really sensitive. HTH mate, James Quote Link to post
cbw 4
Thankyou! That is very interesting and may explain the problem i am having! CBW Quote Link to post
Guest Scuba1
Hi James, quick question.......what does "hold sensitive" mean? CBW Effectively, the recoil on a springer starts even before the pellet starts to move in the barrel, because of the masses like piston and spring moving forward in order to compress the air in the cylinder to get the pellet up to speed. So if you hold the gun tight it will not move as much as if you hold it lose. One way of getting good consistency, is to just rest the fore end on your hand without actually gripping it. That way the gun will move in the same way at every shot. Zero to that and you are sorted. HTH Michael Quote Link to post
