Bobba_fett 117
I was looking through an old book i have called "ferreting and trapping for the amateur gamekeeper" by guy smith and in it he gives you some plans for making your own hutch, nothing fancy apart from the main part for the hutch is mesh, so any sh!te ect falls down and out of the hutch. i was just wondering if anyone has this on there hutch? cheers, Tom Quote Link to post

david901 165
I was given a hutch with some wire at the base. Before i put a ferret in i checked it over and noticed that the mesh was all coroded due to the acid in the urine and faeces.Stainless steel would probably be OK. Quote Link to post
solostoke 1
i have a spare "indoors" hutch i use with its bottom floor made out of mesh which they do their business on and tbh it dosent drop through as you would imagine!!! it just gets stuch all round the mesh and so its harder to clean than a normal wooden floor atb Quote Link to post
The one 8,483
My hutches have two layers of wire 1 inch weld mesh then half inch underneath thats in a movable frame and i dont know why my old man built them like that as said before every couple of years you got to replace them because the piss rots the wire and the crap just clogs up and during the summer you have to power hose them . Thats why i put a plywood floor on the top shame really as there built out of old floor boards and if he'd of did the floor like that they would have lasted forever Quote Link to post
stealthy1 3,964
Mate has wire floor, Its never clean, always s**t stuck to it and stinks, plus when it rains the tray fills up, I use chippings, soaks up scats and p**s, just sweep it up, easy job, but what ever you find easiest.
