racing pigeon prob

i reported one when i first started racing , as a kid i got the owners number from the wing stamp a london phone number within a couple of hours they arrived and clocked the bird in on my yard :whistling::whistling: anyone who races will know what thats all about dropped me a crispy tenner aswell :D

My old chap has got a ringed pigeon just go into his garage and its very weak and cant fly. He has given me the ring number off its leg, any ideas what I can do? He said its very tame and very hungry.

 

Whats the letter after GBO7 ?? If its N then its a national flying club ring

Outragous Was it a club race or a national?? are they well known flyers??

this was in the 1970s .. tenner was a lot of money in them days ..

Hi all nobody has called yet about the bird just hope they do as its a lovely looking thing. the letter after GB 07 is Z if that helps anybody.

Will post tomorrow if any calls come in.

Was also told today that the longer the bird stays here the more its likely to think this is home and stay, is this true because I would rather it went back to its owner.

hello all my kid found a racer 2/3 weeks ago and when she brought it home it had no tail fethers left on it and couldent fly my mate gave me a bag ov chicken food for it and it is doin well, now gettin tail fethers back and flappin its wings etc, were do i get the number from to call about it or will i put the ring number up on here

am not been funny but the bird could be wat we used to call them strags racing pigions that have turned into feral birds and most flyers wouldnt want em back their used to be loads under the tinsley cooling towers. butt good on you for reporting it at least it's up to the owner then atb

Ok all sorted got a call from a chap tonight and hes 35-40 miles away and hes on his way over tonight to pick the bird up, so a good outcome in the end.
