Advice for a novice

Recommended Posts

Hi all, I'm looking to be get a pair of ferrets. What I'd like to know is hobs or jills make better workers? Would it be best to get kits or older pair?

And does one have some available in the South Wales area.

Thanks

its a bit of a toss up really mate, some say jills some say hobs. jills will be a bit quicker but some say not quite the stamina of a larger hob. hobs tend to bully the rabbits more, mine has regularly dragged a rabbit back in the burrow. some say you get more digs with a hob but with mine i had only 3 digs all season, we had more with my mates jills.

some wont have jills for the reason of them coming in to season, not a problem with hobs. so its just what you prefer really mate. as for kits or older kits are good to bring on but can get frustrating when trying to get them to work when they first start where as an older one that is already rabbiting whell the hard work has been done, but not by you.

hope this helps a bit mate
