Going to earth

Recommended Posts

Hey All

Ive got a couple of patterdales one about 13years old and a pup around 4 months old they both work well togther and the pup is picking up loads from the older dog

Now the older dog she has never been to earth she might put her head and liston but thats about it.

now i went out the other day and the pup saw a rabbit bolt and she was stright after it and nearly had it then we lost sight of her as she went through the woods lucky enough for us the older dog found her and we could hear the younger pup crying down a hole after a while we found her and had to dig her out

now i now its in there breed to go to earth but we dont allow them to do so now iam worried that if the little one goes down she will get stuck and we will lose her

any ideas how we can get her out of this as i dreed to think what would happen if she saw a fox bolt as shes only 4 months old

shes a really good dogs does every thing we ask of her but just want her to stop going to earth

thanks for reading

You'll have a job mate. Keep her on the lead around holes, there's not much else you can do.

I've given up trying to stop my little JRT going to ground after rabbits, it's in their nature.

get rid of this pup before it picks up any more bad habits like baying at a fox and refusing to come out until you dig to it buy your self a springer as it has already got bad habits will have to be free to good home sure someone will have it

Ricky if you know that this type of dog has been bred over many years and generations to go to ground WHY are you asking a silly question about trying to stop it going to ground!!!! surely you would be better off with a different type of dog
