Has anyone on here ever kept quail? How easy are they to keep and breed. I was hoping to produce eggs to sell. Also, anyone know where i can get adult birds from, im in north Bucks area. Cheers

i breed many of them for hawk food. they are very easy to rear and keep but need quite careful conditions as they are not too hardy and need to be cossetted somewhat as chicks. Tjhere are some good books on the subject. id suggest buying a couple of dozen hatching eggs from "qualis from wales" on ebay....his stock are really good.

Thanks for that, just 1 more question, could they live in an ark in the garden, or do they need better than that. PS looking on amazon for books on quail.Cheers.

My dad had 3 quails in his aviery, and every morning then used to make a right bloody noise, they where 2 females and 1 male the eggs where nice though so we put up with the noise

I used to keep some in my granddads aviary, great for clearing up the dropped seed! Nice eggs too! :good:
