zap 4
i was out a wander with the dogs yesterday and terriers put a rabbit up my lurcher bitch shot of after it only to run into a fence one of them twat of a fences with the three tight strands of wire and post miles apart so she hits it full speed cuts all her front legs and chest and must have knocked her back leg on it as she wont put it down ,had her to vet and they have put her on anti inflamatorys and to take her back on monday they thought she may have damaged the ligament in the back leg as they could move it in ways they say it should not move ,so wondered if anyone else ever had this damage on there lurcher and basically will she be ok for running again or could that be it ? Dawn B 212
Was it the cruciate ligament? at the back of her knee? If so, you MUST rest the dog totally if its only strained and not ruptured. If its ruptured only surgery will help, and them Im afraid most dont go on to work hard again, but most will lead a normal pet life.

Dawn B 212
If its ruptured it wont heal by itself, the leg will just become shrivelled, and the muscle will go and the dog will be in discomfort. If its just strained, which if your vet hasnt x-rayed he wont know or not, rest, rest and more rest will heal the dog and it should be 100% again. Surgery is very expensive and I personally doubt a dog would ever be fit enough to work again if the ruptured ligament was repaired. My opinion only, but I have seen many many cases of this over the last 16yrs in kennels. Very best of luck to you.
AKA-BRINDLE 879
i was out a wander with the dogs yesterday and terriers put a rabbit up my lurcher bitch shot of after it only to run into a fence one of them twat of a fences with the three tight strands of wire and post miles apart so she hits it full speed cuts all her front legs and chest and must have knocked her back leg on it as she wont put it down ,had her to vet and they have put her on anti inflamatorys and to take her back on monday they thought she may have damaged the ligament in the back leg as they could move it in ways they say it should not move ,so wondered if anyone else ever had this damage on there lurcher and basically will she be ok for running again or could that be it ? "they could move it in ways they say it should not move"...thats the line that concerns me...the cruciate ligaments make the knee joint open like a hindge if the ligaments are ruptured, blown or broke it will allow the 2 surfaces of the joint to rub together breaking up cartlidge and destroying the surface of the joint this will cause arthritis in the joint...the only thing that makes any real differance to treating arthritis is Glucosamine and this is made more effective mixed with chondrotin...the standard operation for cruciate ligaments is replaceing them with fishing line...sorry mate but i doubt she would run proper again after this...but first try crate resting her for 6 weeks ask the vet for anti inflamatory/steriod injections...fingers crossed for you...sadly i speak from exsperiance
zap 4
well its not much but today she put a little wait on it not alot but up until now she aint even put it near the floor so tiny bits of improvement will hopefully come ,i,ve gave the misses orders to go buy some cheap rugs for the sitting room right through to the back door as we have all wood flooring which is slippy at the best of times so that should help her a bit other than that she only getting out to relieve her self and back on the couch fingers crossed and thanks for your comments AKA BRINDLE your right in what you say about the movement bit it does sound worrying but the bitch gave me her everything for 7 years so i,ll give her time aslong as she dont seem to be in pain i have until september time so heres hoping
