lofty 0
If it is a ruptured cruciate ligament it can be repaired. Be prepared for a lengthy recovery period and a large vet bill. http://vetsurgerycentral.com/tplo.htm I've used glucosomine chondroitin which is a must after this operation which worked well, but the most effective (and least expensive) in my experience has been this product. http://synflexforpets.co.uk/
zap 4
well she is going for the surgery i was given a choice surgery which gets her up and walking or they can do a more technical surgery think he said it was called tplo surgery which once done they reckon will give her every chance of working again the surgery costs around 600 to do which i,m not to worried about after all some spend a shit lot more on a week in tenerife i dont drink my dogs are my hobbie so i,ll give it a go nothing ventured nothing gained i,ll let people know how it goes and come september time if it has saved her working life

lofty 0
well she is going for the surgery i was given a choice surgery which gets her up and walking or they can do a more technical surgery think he said it was called tplo surgery which once done they reckon will give her every chance of working again the surgery costs around 600 to do which i,m not to worried about after all some spend a shit lot more on a week in tenerife i dont drink my dogs are my hobbie so i,ll give it a go nothing ventured nothing gained i,ll let people know how it goes and come september time if it has saved her working life It is called TPLO, Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy, it's in the link of my post immediately before the post of the quote above. Either choice of surgery, if successfull will give the same final result. TPLO is a better choice than rubber bands generally on medium to larger breeds. I hope all goes well and the dog makes a full recovery. The vet that I used is first class, and I wouldn't say that about some of the others, and despite ensuring the dog had post op care to the final detail (he is with me 24/7) it took three operations before it was right. The total cost.....multiply by six what you're looking at. Don't go for the cheapest glucosomine chondroitin unless they contain what the pharmecutical products contain. They're cheaper for a reason. You may have also not looked at the second link in my previous post. In my experience this has been at least equal to (I feel even better than) glucosomine chondroitin in tablet form. Good luck. Good luck. rubber bands!! try two 80lb breaking strain lines held in place with metal crimps and screws...was told having the lines put in was recomended for strong highly driven dogs as you know the 3 month recovery period after the op is all important and there is a chance of the dog breaking up the leg... bad enough with the lines but real bad news with the TPLO...do you think any dog after either types of this sort of surgery would be good enough to work again? would be genuinely interested to hear from anyone whos dog recoverd well enough from this to work again...£600 sounds bloody cheap! will cost you around £70 just to speak to a decent spealist for about 20 mins...the op i refer to will cost you about £2000 all going well...tried but didnt rate that synflex got the impression its made in a tub in some blokes kitchen...the best by far was cosiquine DS...not cheap but by far the best..."the vet that i used is first class, and i wouldn't say that about some of the others...aint that the truth! good post...best of luck zap let us know how she goes...
