Getting permission

Recommended Posts

Alright everyone. Needing tips on getting permission. I currently have one that i do a bit of ferreting on, but asked about using air rifles and she didnt seem to keen, as there is riding stables on the land and there are people around all day, she said i could shoot at night, never done this before but do want to, but also want to shoot while its still light. So im going to try and get more permission.

Im sure this question will have been asked plenty of times before, so sorry for repeating it, but whats the best way to go about getting permission?

I have went a few drives around some local country roads and spotted rabbits etc in some places. Would you approach the land owner directly, or send letters like the permission letter in the faq section on here, or a bit of both?

Also, how do you find address's etc of local farms, do you google it or is these decent websites for finding this info?

Sorry for all the questions but i know how helpfull people are on this forum so i thought i'd ask.

Cheers, John

I got my first permission by going asking face to face and just got lucky but im now in the process of sending letters out to a few golf courses etc.

Also if you were to go hunting at night you would need a lamping set up. Have a look on the for sale forum to see if you can get a bargain second hand.

You can try and guess who owns the land by the nearest farm to it but someone posted to day that the land regstry is a good place to find out who owns land.

i got 3 farms ok 1 of em are crap and the other is only ferreting just from phoning the farms in my area, i got contact details from yellow pages. i also have another farm which i shoot on but i knocked and spoke to the landowner...lletters can work although stamps could become costly and you will hardly ever get a reply..
