Cornio 0
Spod Rods - A marketers dream. I really do have to laugh at the 'tackle tarts' who are foolish enough to part money for a spod rod. Just find an old beat up beachcaster at a car boot sale. My mate uses one that's only got about 3 eyes on it but it does the job. Edited April 6, 2009 by Cornio Quote Link to post

Get ur self a spod rod mate its alrite useing a "beat up beachcaster" with 3 rings, until the line coils around one of the rings and snaps then its good bye to 7 or 8 quids worth of spod, wont be laughing then just effing and blinding, why did i buy this heap of s*#t in the first place. Guest WILF
A purpose made spod rod will allways be better than a beachcaster, no question........I have tryed both and can tell you this for a fact. An old stick beachcaster will be ok out to about 20 yds, but when you are spooding out to 70 yds + then it just wont do. The purpose made spod has a much better action and is a lot more accurate, you will find after pratice that you can "steer" the spod in flight, use a braid main line of about 30-40lb bs and your away. I can happily spod out to 100yds with a good degree of accuracy, no problem.........this would not be possible with an "old beachcaster" I dont use a dedicated marker rod, I buy 2 spod rods instead and use one as a marker........you can load it quiet happily with 6oz of lead if you want and really give it the big chuck The other bonus is that if you blow up your spod rod (which is not unusual) you just swap to you other spod rod and your back in business Quote Link to post
