Recommended Posts

hi i made a upright wood burner end of last year,i ended up with a lot of people watching me i live in a small town, anyway time to try couple of hours later in my car port, people couldnt believe the heat it was putting out a bit of flexy for chimney old offcuts of softwood,i use it in garden for a patio heater burn anything and everything,flo-gas i have 3 more so phase 2 next

This is actually the 2nd one i've made. The first one has a smaller gas bottle on the top that is brilliant as a oven for Jacket Potatos (Tatty's). The one pictured was actually made for Fell type off this site but he's going to fall out with me cause i'm keeping it and i'll make him another!!

I had a job cancel on me today so I thought i'd make a Wood Burner that i'd seen selling on Ebay.

What do you all think? Should be good for the dogs Stockpot and Kettle!! Made from an old Gas Bottle. Cost me about £10 to make. ATB MRD.

is it safe to cut a gas bottle ???

did you use a grinder? was you not worried if any fumes remained inside?

By all means mate copy the idea. Alot of people think "Cutting into a GAS BOTTLE f*****g hell!!" but .... theres a brass ball at the top of all gas bottles and rubber washer when you take the tap off Get a LARGE size Phillips type screwdriver or similar and knock it into the bottle but try and empty the bottle first through the tap or regulator. PM me if you do make one and you need to know anything at all. ATB, MRD

REALLY impressed with that, the finishing touches are superb! :clapper::clapper::notworthy:

What would one be like for burning coal (multi fuel type)?

Is it possible to make one standing up rather than lying down....if you know what i mean :D

You could burn coal on them but would need cleaning out more often. Burning wood is good because the left over burnt wood (charcoal) lights up very easy. Yes you can make them standing up but you would obviously have a smaller area to put your sauce pan / Kettle on.
