Speeding??

Recommended Posts

Yesterday I got clocked doing roughly 47mph in a 40mph roadworks zone. So basicly want to know what the chances of me geting done are? I honestly dont make a habit of speeding, just wasnt thinking :wallbash:

dont know probably a fine just, i know they allow 10% ie 44mph in a 40 zone due to speedos not being calabrated etc and i also heard that the device they clock you with has to have a calabration certificate to be leagle but dont know how true this is?

For speeding laws to be enforceable, ACPO guidelines suggest that a Fixed Penalty should be served if the car is doing over 46MPH.

47 in a 40 zone could easily see you with a F.P. unfortunately, you can ask for a calibration certificate for the Camera and you should be notified of likely proceedings in 14 days and issued with a ticket by 14 days after that. After 28 days the ticket is null and void.

It does happen, cruising along and just not looking at the speedo.

What were you clocked by? A mobile unit or fixed camera?

One of those vans with a camera in the back. My mate said because it was a saturday and no one was working on the road they may not bother with a 47. Considering other people were going much faster. When should I expect to hear? roughly.

Thought you might be interested to know that following the UK Government's freedom of information act you can now get access to ALL speed camera offences registered in the last 12 months. Did you know that every time your car goes past a speed camera, even 1mph over the set limit, it is registered and put on a database? You only get a ticket if you are way over the limit or, (this is the bit that I didn't know) if you receive over 10 near misses, you will be classed as a serial offender and get a ticket the next time you go just over the limit. This is why you hear of people being done for 34mph in a30mph limit area, whilst others doing 39 do not. You can check what has been registered against your vehicle at the following web address: http://www.i-database.co.uk/

just have your car redgistered in someone elses name then apply for log book back to tax it or just tax it on the green slip then you can go as fast as you want happy that no fines will land on your doormat. i had a van last year i used for fishing i got so nearly the full passenger side of the window was full of parking tickets hahahah f**k knows what the warden man kept thinking

For info ............ Some forces (notably North Wales) have a 0 tolerance to speeding, so 0 +/- 2 mph shit. If its one of these your in for 3 points and £ 60

Depends really, on both the Police forces policy on speeding and whether the average speed was actually 47MPH.

Expect to hear within the week ;)
