best hare dog cross

Saluki greyhounds i dont think can be beaten in the day but there are some other good crosses out there

I dont think there's really one answer to this question,if you run on big flat lands then obviously Saluki xs have the advantage,having bags of stamina,but on smaller fields they are at a disadvantage because of their running style,where we live the best dog ive ever seen is a cross between top coursing bred dogs containing Saluki and very good lamping blood,the only dog thats ever managed 3out of 3 and killed 8 off 8 slips over a week and a half period,that might not seem extrodineary to the 5 out of 5 merchants on here but all i can say is lads have been with dogs that were regularly run on the fens and done nothing.

At the end of the day its horses for courses.

That is the most realistic and sensible answer,imo.The question has to be answered with a further question ,where are you going to run?

I mean have your years of experience showed you that this is the way to go when selecting the breeding and bloodlines for a dog to take hares. I thought I would ask ,as seven days ago you were asking what was the best cross to take hares pre ban?

Of the dogs you have mentioned , Charlie, Luke,Casper,Merlin ,Eve, Foxy. How many have you actually seen run ?

I'm not necessarily saying you are wrong ,just curious ,as to how you arrived at your opinion.

well to be honest i got 10 dogs most are my own breed they are very good dogs and i have a couple from charlie merlin amd eve lines i do a lot of day time stuff.ive seen a lot run and i no freddy holmes well who owend charlie you mite have herd of my family (smiths gaskins stanleys)that mite give you an idear if i no anything, do you want to no any more mate.CHEERS FEN FEVER

Well if you want to answer my question that would be allright.How many of those you have mentioned have you personally seen run?

Freddy did not breed Charlie ,I know who did, but I won't give his name on here.Which of the families you mentioned got the asbos recently? I heard it was the G's.

Probably 90% of saluki blooded coursing dogs have Merlin/ Eve lines in their make up, to be honest its a pretty meaningless statement nowadays, for example I have a young dog,who has Drax lines on one side Joe on the other , but Drax goes back to Merlin Eve / Rooster ,and before that Fly/ Hoover,and Fly on the other side down to Sally/Roxy and Tuffy, of all these Ive only seen Hoover, Drax,in the flesh and Sally[ on video].

Ps .How do you find the time to do 10 dogs justice? I am retired ,and I find three more than enough.

So of the 6 dogs you mentioned you have seen 1 run in the flesh yes? Foxy and her on 1 day.

how do i manage 10 dogs well im getting on a bit my self and retierd myself most of my family help me ive just gave 3 dogs a rest had a good winter.got a bitch with pups on her and the rest are bout 6 7 months my own breed
