Guest sushie
If its as good as the other models of lightning then i would go for it mate! I saw a reveiw for it the other day, synthetic stock looks nice, in my opinion very good guns! Quote Link to post

Not had a go of the XL Tactical but Lightnings are popular rifles and many lads swear by them. They seem to be priced right anyway. What are the differences over the standard XL? Is it just a synthetic stock? Quote Link to post
Guest gav d
the xl tactical is just the same as the lightning xl just with a synthetic stock, also the scope options available are airgun sport 3-9 x 40 scopes, hawke 3-9 x 40 MAP scopes or simmons 3-9 x 50 scopes, i am getting the simmons 3-9x50 ones would this be the best choice? Guest sushie
Simmons! I had a pair on my lightning and they were very good scopes! Quote Link to post
Guest gav d
cheers for all your replies, i will be getting the xl tactical when it comes out in june sometime with those simmons scopes Quote Link to post
Guest The Amazing Dog Faced Boy
If you want to improve the Lightning any further then get a Theoben Gas-Ram fitted on it. This will improve consistancy and recoil... probably makes it quiter too. - but it will take it over the 12ft/lb limit - so only do this if you have a ticket  I think Theoben do an FAC range now anyway but not sure what they are rated at - check out the theoben website for more info. Theoben only did a FAC gasram for the HW80 unless you bought a fac gun from them crusadar etc [Editted - CJ] Quote Link to post

It's always a misguided fool like you, obsessed with scraping a few extra ft/lb's out of their airgun, that gives the rest of us shooters a bad name. I know the airgun power limits are silly, but we are a sport under pressure and encouraging people to illegally take their gun over the limit does not reflect well on the sport, especially on a public forum that is watched by anti's and accessable by easily influenced young people. I'm not going to tell you how to live your life, I am merely requesting that you take on a more mature approach to shooting if, like me, you wish to see shooting survive and thrive for the future generations. Guest gav d
i dont need my gun to be over 12 ft/lbs the guns i had before where only 9/10 ft/lbs at the most and where good enough for my needs, i may get a one more powerfull than 12 ft/lbs when i can afford a firearm certificate, wouldnt like to recieve the penalty for havin a section 1 firearm its much easier to stay legal, i wont even be using this gun in places where i have used my other ones, i have been caught by the police with them before and would not want this one to be taken away, which is why im making sure i stay as legal as possible   Quote Link to post
Guest gav d
well, i was caught in the ****** with my rifle also it was loaded oops this was with my SMK B2, i got away with just having to sign disclaimer etc and handing the gun over but imagine i had been there with a section one firearm... whats the pentaly for that? nd im stoppin the nights on the piss for a while so i can afford this gun Lol Quote Link to post

It's worth noting that adjusting your gun to 12ft lbs will also put you in breach of the law as the police (if they really want to prove a point) will do exerything they can to make your gun give an illegal reading - i.e. heat up the barrel and use an ultra low friction pellet lube - etc. So - if you have a chrono and are constantly adjusting it to the limit then keep it around 11.5 if you are likely to get stopped by the cops. The .177 and .22 gas rams are basically the same except one has more pressure (I think you can pressurise them further with the right equipment). I've not heard of anyone having problems with the rifle with this kind of mod. Personally - I would go for a .177 rifle over the .22 for a lightweight breakaction as you are probably just going to be popping round the woods with it anyway. For anything longer range or requiring a larger calibre - get an FAC precharge as 12ft/lbs is frankly not enough.. but if you already have a ticket then mod up the .22 - the extra power won't hurt it. Anyway - back to my point - the gas ram will improve your gun if you so desire. it is a nice mod if you are willing to spend an extra £60. If you want to stick with the spring then fair play - but it's worth consideration the next time you need to replace the spring. Quote Link to post

[Argue On Another Forum Please Gents - CJ] Don't try and play dumb with me mate, you posted how to take a rifle over the limit without any prompting and then followed your remark with a certain provocative (in this context) smiley, it's obvious what you were trying to suggest so don't try and act innocent. I'm just looking out for my sport, the anti's will take any comments like yours and use them against us with relish, I'd rather insult a fellow sportsman than just roll over and give them some more ammunition.
