blaev 1
My first dog was a german shepherd, then got into rough shooting and got an old lab bitch that had been used by a gundog breeder as a brood bitch but she knew more about shooting than me and we had some great outings on the small permission i had at the time. Her hips got really bad but god you should have seen her light up when i went to the gun cabinet and got the o/u out. Then another lab, still got him but he's 15 now, and a brindle boxer who wants to beat everything up he meets. Then one day i went to the local terrier races and was bowled over by these little black terriers that were so incredibly game. The way they all bayed and went crazy when the terriers were put into the traps made me fall about laughing, it was like being at a football match but with the dogs going mad rather than the people. So i found out about the black dogs and they turned out to be patterdales. Promised myself i'd get one but it took another 3 years before i eventually did. She's shaping up to be a really cracking dog. Quote Link to post

herdwick 52
First dog was a collie. Worked cattle and self entered to foxes. Hit a fence running his 1st and hated them with a passion after that. Hardly a fox on the place until he was killed! 1st terrier was a hard red lakeland, about as much good as a chocolate teapot. Killed anything and everything before he was despatched. Had borders for 20 years but dont like what they have become so now have JR's. All round vermin dogs, take them shooting (without collars or leads) and 2 will retrieve to hand. Quote Link to post

He worked well and did everthing ever asked of him, always found and never walked away from his game. Killed at 12 years old whilst working by a fooking lurcher dog who picked him up and ran off shaking him. Quote Link to post
