Well done, There hard to master, But once you get the hang, you wont use nothing else! Did you Birds Nest it much before you got it right? I went through a lot of spools of line to begin..I still have the odd blow up as well, usually at night in the rain!

Looks like an old sea streak reel, try an abu or a diawa and you'll put another twenty yards on without any trouble, try to get one without the level wind

i only birds nested it once after that i mastered stopping the spool quickly. it hasnt got a level wind im just good at that :D

Good chucking for a youngling on a seastreak!

A feller called Paul Johnstone casts at our tournaments at North Western Surcasting Association, he had a cast last year on one of the old seastreaks that hit 209 yards. The reel lived up to it's nickname of the 'Intrepid Sea-screech'.

Like John said, stick an abu on and you will see the distance increased by quite a bit! ;)

i wasnt pushing it at all and it was with me spinning rod and a 2-3 oz lead i think with me beachcaster i should wing it a way, are i think it was diawa millionares good?

Yes the daiwa 7ht's are good, but the abu mag elites ct's have the edge and are timeless reels. Any of the 6500 mag elite's have the mag brakes and blocks. Either make a good tournament or fishing reel. ;)

I Use a Penn 525 Super Mag Xtra,

It Flys Like a Bitch & Ive Still Got Most Of The Brakes On Lol,

Very Good Strong Reels But Very Expensive Too

yeah thats the problem, being on a student budget everything is expensive which is why trapping wise i make what i can. but fishing is one of those things which is always pricey

Fair play, I have been fishing in Nambia with the locals. Even when i managed a few casts without a birds nest it would eventually always go wrong due to line lie. Then when i caught a fish and put the reel in the sand - all hell would break loose. just bought a boat rod and multiplier reel and a bit nervous to be honest.

Anyway good luck, and from what i hear most of the time you can be casting over the top of the fish anyway...

a lot of boat fishing is just lowering it down no casting involved, but if so done with fixed spool

i just wanted to add another arrow to my quiver tbh, cant wait to test it at the beach and no doubt make a complete wanker of myself :icon_redface:

Nice one mate! :good:

My brother bought an abu 6500 mag elite off of a tournament caster, (welsh record holder at some point) about 10 years ago. The brakes on it were modified in some way, and my brother has only just got the hang of casting properly with it, and even now he gets the odd birds nest!

He only used it now & again though.
