Stripping is better for the dogs coat as it will allow it to grow back harsh...in Grooming Salon it tkes 4hours per dog....but doing it at home youu couild take as long as you wanted.....

Clipping tends to ruin the coat and it tends to grow back soft and un-strippble....in a Grooming Salon tkes 2.5hours...both time allowences include bathing at a salon......just depends what you want to do....(also if your dog has been spayed/castrated this tends to ruin the cot to nd makes it soft)

My Jack Russell will be stripped for as long as i can be bothered...then i'll get my friend to do it...hehe

Both methods leave a similar result as the end look.....so its completley upto you......

I half typed that about stripping vs clipping after I read something online ages ago. I deleted it as I thought it might be better if someone with more knowledge than myself wrote it, such as yourself!:thumbs:

my auntie shaves the mother of my patterdale and it looks rubbish, shes gone fluffy because her under coat is the same length as her top wirey coat

were as i strip my dog and she looks top notch if i do say so myself

(if anyone wants it done in northumberland i ask £15 for terrier, £20 for lurcher...and can have the dog done in half an hour to 45 mins)

Do you strip or shave your dog if you do what do you use?

How long does it take and which method do you think is the best.

I have been using "wahl"(spelling) clippers but seems to take ages and does not always cut easily.

does your mum strip or shave? :hmm:

She'e been dead some time now so I can't ask.
