lurchergirl, can i ask why you won't feed pork ? i get most of my stuff gratis from the butchers as well and have never had any problems when feeding it , i've have always believed the reasons behind people not using pork were based on auld wives tales that have no relevance today. anybody had any problems feeding pork ?

I let her have a bit of it now and then Lawrence, but I read somewhere that pork doesn't digest well? Plus, the pork bits my butcher was putting in the bag were really fatty, and there's enough fat available in the chicken skin (or so I'm guessing).

GBM that's interesting about the ProPlan. I'd heard good things about it in Canada as well. The only reasons I've not reintroduced dry are because 1) the ingredients are usually crap and 2) stools are always so huge and smelly. Since switching off of dry, my stoop-and-scoop chores are far more pleasant

And thanks Craigy for the pm explaining about how you make your mixer

A good quality puppy food is always a safe bet. You can add meat etc as you wish but the base will be balenced and dependable. It doesn't matter where the nutrients come from ie complete, raw, cooked whats important is that they are the neccessary ones in a usable form and in the right balence.

Try it LG it is REALLY good food! and they're always doing deals on it like £10 off or 3kg extra free or free feed bin. Without this sounding digusting our dogs stools on pro plan are so firm, not smelly at all and really small. The ingredients are all human grade quality (my rep is so condfident about it he ate some in front of me! No additives or E numbers and the largest ingredient is meat unlike other brands
