the £6000 roe buck

Recommended Posts

am in the process of applying for a variation for a 243 for fox and deer on my firearms certificate ,the shoot i am in has some good ground so i see it a logical move anyway i digress back to the title, i was reading in shooting times a deer manager in the south of scotland has viewed a white roe buck on his land and has put a price tag on the trophy of £6000 , this had me thinking would you pay that, could you justify it , i suppose it is a one off or there will be very few around, i think it may go to an overseas gun , your thoughts cheers rob

I know i couldn't justify spending 6k on a trophy being it white pink or all the colours of the rainbow.

Its just another way for landowners to cash in i suppose, and some plank with more money than sense will pay it and he won't be the last.

i dont realy like trophy stalking to be honest i would much rather it be left alone to spred its seed while its still a good beast ( thats if its not old and buggard all ready) then cull it as i would any normal buck.. so thats a no from me i wouldent pay that

yep i agree, i dont know about genetics but surely if the beast was to breed there would be a chance of more of them being about. but 6 grand for a deer it would have to be solid gold not white. ;)

It's likely to be a 50/50 chance depending on the genes being recessive or dominant.

Now that it is advertised. He better get someone to shoot it quick!!

Every poacher in the area and beyond knows where it is now !!

I would have made a few phonecalls ,Got it on the wall ,then let everyone else know .

Same as big cats ! , Tell people you have one and every crank with a camera and a safari suit starts walking all over your ground pretending to be some kind of expert !

Keep quiet , get the job done , sorted !.

ive heard of quite a few white deer bein sein, i saw a heard of fallow at the side of a main road there was about 8 i think 2 of which was white,

White fallow are pretty common in the UK, Roe on the other hand are quite rare. AFAIK this buck is only a spiker and I would suggest the 'trophy' is in its pelt

On a deer farm not 3 miles from me they have two white red hinds

Its certainly a fine line aint it, not my cup of tea, but if i had one and someone offered 6k to stalk it i for one wouldnt say no... if they want to add to the 2 billion that shooting brings into our economy then who are we to say its wrong
