blacktabs 3
Go on trappa you will never look back Canny beat home grown were on the list at ours mind you check the lottys out first one of the sites near us uses them for communty service loads of hassle mess and tools going missing no fun when all you want is some peace and quiet. Its worth getting to know the other allotment holders to find out if theres any problems or any bad plots. Last year i introduced myself to the other good site near me and got a share of a plot as an old boy needed a hand also planted every square inch of the council borders near my house council didnt mind suprising how much you can plant up if you just look about. happyploughman 1
Just dug over a veg plot in my garden , just wondering what seeds to get going first , just sown some roma to tomatoes chilli plants ( but there indoors mostly untill summer comes ) and some red onion sets waiting for warmer nights Hi Steve in my allotment have got my onion sets in and they have started growing already. Broad bean seeds can go straight in now mine have been in for 2 weeks and are just showing through the ground. I put some parsnip seed in last week also. I have "hispi" cabbage plants growing in greenhouse, they are very hardy. I have grown them from seed and I always gradually harden them up and put out plants in allotment in april and get early cabbages, I plant them close and take out some to eat when not fully grown and leave space for others to mature. Will go up this afternnon and put in some early carrot seeds. Good luck with your growing mate.

littlefish 586
Good luck with your plot. Have you thought about what you are going to grow in it yet? I've got potatoes, tomatoes, peppers and scallions on the go at the minute.
trappa 518
Cheers lads. Ive got peas, carrots, onions and some early potatoes in. Going to get some parsnips sorted for today. Im only new to it but im enjoying it more than i thought i would! (apart from the shed getting broken into the night before last). A lot of veg require manure to be put down well before planting so i doubt i will be winning the "biggest marrow competition" this year mind!
droid 11
My Dad used to plant his marrows in the compost/manure heap. He had 2 heaps, and anything left in the old heap had marrows planted in it. They were fookin huge.....
