Thought id share the fact ive just got me an allotment. Its great soil and only a 5 minute walk from my house. I have dug it over this last week and its getting rotivated at the weekend. Really looking forward to getting stuck in. I eat loads of rabbit etc so growing my own veg is a natural progression.

Also got space for some chickens as the wife stopped me having them in the garden. Watch this space!

You picked the right time to get it started, I've had one myself, had to give it up when we moved to another town, veg tastes better when you pick it just before its eaten, more so with salad stuff like lettice. :)

Good luck with the allotment but just check about keeping chooks as the allotments nearest to me don't allow chooks or sheds.

Folks have to take their tools with them and take them away or leave em out. :o

I would have had one if there were less restrictions as they are only 2 Min's away.

Cheers boys. Its all about dug over now, was going to go down and do some more weeding but its raining so im unsure what to do. There is a place to keep chucks so i think i will give that a clear out.

Jack, its pennies mate. The official council ones are £11.00 a year, but these ones im on are closer and cheaper!

Harry, go on, give it a go! All you need is a spade/fork and some time to start and thats it.

Once the donkey work is done im hoping its a case of letting them grow and having a couple of hours a week titivating (emphasis on hoping!!)
