Hiden obsticles in the grass

Recommended Posts

Well went out for a mooch this morning to the local country park to stretch the dogs legs. Well to cut a long story short the terrier flushed a rabbit out of some bushes, my young dog who is 18 month and has done well this season was straight onto it. The rabbit ran into some reeds with the lurcher right up its arse. Then there was an almighty yelp :o :o The yong dog came out yelping and with his tail between his legs. "Oh feck" ran over to him and could see there was a puncture wound at the rear of his ribbs. Got him home as quick as possible to inspect the damage. Didnt look that bad, but deeper in it didnt look right :( :( Took him to the vets and he said there is internal muscle damage and he will have to operate ASAP. You always know its going to be bad when the vet says is he insured, which he is. well off to pick him up to see if he is ok and what the damage is(££££)

Good luck with him, hope he's ok for you. We have had so many injuries with ours but 'touch wood' nothing major!

Hi, may i ask why is this dog muzzled, just wondering, thanks.

Hiya - he has issues with small dogs. There's no malice but he is very rough with them. It's something I'm working on so he can be muzzle free soon :) Doesn't stop him catching rabbits though but I usually have to finish them off.

Well just picked him up looking a little sorry for himself. Vet said he had ripped all the muscle inside, so he has had to sort that out and put a drain in. Back to vets on Saturday to take the drain out then a week later to get the stitches out if everything goes ok. Well the bill is £250 :o :o :o so far, but i must say pet insurance is a must, because a small injury may not be as small as you think.

i had a similar problem with one of my dogs a good few year back.i was running him on some farm land with a lot of hedges on.he took off after a rabbit which headed for a gap in the hedge line,un beknown to me or the dog there was some barbed wire which had been cut and left lying.the dog was flat out when he hit it.needless to say he was in a mess.his chest and left hand side were torn wide open and he also punctured a vein in his leg.he was taken straight to the vets and laid up for a good while.hope youre dog makes a full recovery and all the best  col
