wunwin 0
I was wondering where all the dog and ferret lads(and lasses) who use this site live, ie. town or country. The reason i ask is that i live in a large village, but most of the twats who live here wouldnt know a rabbit from a rottweiler!!!! It makes me cross when i read about 'townies', when i know a lot of town dwellers who know more about the country way of life than a lot of people in my village. So its not where you live, but your attitude that counts, in my book. Quote Link to post
Guest jimmytwodugs
i live in a small town but it is surounded by countryside and i work in the country Quote Link to post
Guest Grimescar_keeper
It's not where you live but how you live in my opinion. I live near the town centre but try t avoid it. Like you say, you can know alot more than th rich "country" commuters. G-K Quote Link to post
logman 0
Im a farmer mate, and theres f**k all real country people left around here, all city folk who comute, WANKERS  Quote Link to post
Nell 1
Well I live and have been brought up on a counsil estate and not afraid to admit it either, it does however border fields and fields to one side so maybe not as town like as it could be! I own my own house in this squalid place i call home but I spend most of my time in the country though, and all of my permission is in the country, I try not to poach as i don't have the need to, but do take advantage of the odd quiet spot from time to time (without causing a nuisance ). I get along great with the farmers and gamekeepers who give me the permission and on occasions have the odd drinking sessions with a few, all this from a young man of 23 (some would say "old before my time"!!) i am one of probabily many that are divided in this way. Hopefully everyone on this site has one or more interests in common which they love and indeed live for, so why should it matter where they originate from? I am what most would call a "towny" but that doesn't mean I don't understand and respect the lifestyles of other folk and it certainly doesn't mean i'm a wanker (although some would disagree!! ) Quote Link to post
jigsaw 11,866
I live in the city but keep ferrets, terriers and lurchers since im 12.I spent the majority of my free time in the country well away from city life in which I abhor.I am in my mid 40's now and I have never set foot in a nightclub yet believe it or not. Most of my friends are country folk and I'm in touch with them regurlarly,I have been involved in driven pheasant shoots, which I had to drive 3 hrs to get to and then spend the day in thick cover flushing driving back again at the end of the day.I travel in the winter around different counties participating in various different field sports.I may live in the city but I see myself as a country person at heart,I have more love for the countryside than I could ever have for the city.Countryman there are too many city folk moving into the sticks, these are the people that cause a lot of the problems I find. Rabbithunter 456
I live in the town. Not the center though thankfully. Im a towny Born, but country Bred. I love being out in the sticks weather im walking with the dog's. or setting snares. Can't beat it. I have never set foot in a nightclub yet believe it or not I was into the ferreting from 15. I only ever went on the town when i was 17, with my mate. Was worth it wanted to the lasses we pulled. & then again last may, was my lasses birthday and she dragged me. I even said to her i would rather have been in a field. Which didnt impress her I wont stop doing what i do for anybody or anything. happy hunting, happy snaring, happy trapping, happy netting, happy lamping, happy ferreting Quote Link to post
collie/grey 238
I live in a village, and i am surrounded by fields, but most of the people here are towny's that just move in and think they are the best. Most people round my way are anti's. Im 17 and i much prefer the country with my lurchers. My mum would say the same. Quote Link to post
Guest grubygrafter
i live in a town . and work in the countryside. the shocking thing is that most folk. in the countryside dont give a f**k about the countryside or nature in any shape or form. there life is back to back work. and there main object is balanceing the books or makeing a profit. sad but true. and a good % of farms should be closed down there a fecking disgrace . farm asurrance is a farce. this said there are some very good farmers and its a pleasure to work for them. . Simoman 110
I've lived in both towns and villages but now live in a small Lincolnshire town and less than 600 yards are open fields for the next 15 miles to the next town. that said I would love to live in a more remote location (The outback ). I am lucky that I also work in the countryside and my office window overlooks 500 acres . I think the spirit of the countryside is either in your blood or not, I have friends in Nottingham that cannot stand to leave the town centre and be away from the shops, pubs etc. Quote Link to post
Paid 935
I'm from the largest city, then a townie, now in the country with fields on 3 sides. Quote Link to post
Guest savageboy
my heart is in the country , i hate towns and i live in one but i am 5 mins from country . cheers savageboy Quote Link to post
wunwin 0
It looks to me that being a 'countryman' is a state of mind, not based on where you live or were brought up, much like being a 'townie' doesnt mean you live in a town. its just a shame that we cant send the townies to live in town and us countrymen cant have their posh village houses!!
