docking tail at 9 months fell terrier

 

is it too let ? anyone any experience doing this at 9 months, pup from a good working line and will be working with me. "this is the way i got her"

checking out the laws of it before i contact any vet at this age. always used a tail ring at a few days old never a problem in the past.

 

i know its madness and pup should of been sorted alot sooner.i've just got her

To late mate if the dogs tail is not damaged you have no chance of a vet touching it

some vets will do it, but as a proper operation..ie general aneasthetic..mine was willing to do it on a springer but will be a couple hundred quid so is it worth it

i also have a working terriers whit a long tail and never had any problem whit him below ground so i don't see any reason to dock it on a later age ,,,

if you put the ring on it will rot off in a few weeks,i know a bloke who did this with a springer and it worked no problem.dog took no notice ,but this was a once off .

you can remove his tail at 9 months and you dont need a vet to do it. not a nice thing to do, but i have seen it done !! but dont close your eyes when your doing it

i agree, we got our brittany spaniel docked at an older age because she split it in heavy cover got infected.but because she was so used to having a tail when it was gone she walks about with her arse to one side looking very awkward still works ok though.

sheeps ring will do the job,the tail will drop off in a week?but the dog will be in discomfort for few days,if you do go head with it u will be breaking the law under the new legislation.so shhhhhhhhh!
