StephOC 6
I have had ferrets for almost a year, and really enjoy working them. I'd not thought about a ferret finder until I started reading posts on here about doubling bags, etc, and now mum's agreed to get me one for my birthday, next week So, which would you reccommend? I'd probably assume that the Deben MK3 was the best... but if you people think that another is just as good/better, please tell me and say why. Thanks for your time. Quote Link to post
stubby 175
click on the deben link at the bottom of my signiture and watch the 3 clips on using the mk3, Id suggest that one, as, as good as the mk1 is/was its dated now in that spares/repairs are hard, why make trouble for yourself, plus Im sure your mum will be happier payer £130 ish for a brand new unit with a years gurantee, compaired to £ plus for a secondhand unit with no gurantee Quote Link to post
StephOC 6
Thanks Stubby! It looks dead good - can't wait to get one! Quote Link to post
Sighthound 49
used to have permission at Stirling University. It was overrun with rabbits. You won't go wrong with a locator. Quote Link to post
polecat93 4
yes go for the mk3 it is brilliant tells you how far they are, its great Quote Link to post
cumbrianrabbiter 0
im still useing the mk 1 but i think i will have to go to the mk 3 in the future as they stoped making parts for the mk1 atb gaz Quote Link to post
Neal 1,891
I've heard a lot of people who use the Mk 1 criticising the Mk3 but I think it's down to what you're accustomed to using. I've never used the former but I find the Mk 3 works fine. Quote Link to post
Halfinch 51
I have the mk3 and love it now, I found it a bit difficult at first and had the attitude of, "I'll wait, the ferret will come out" but i have used it all this season and actually enjoy the digging now, i'm spot on with the locator, and end up with more rabbits, I went out a couple of weeks ago and out of the 25 rabbits we had, i dug to 13 of them, so you can see the potental of them. Good luck, stick with it. Quote Link to post

Fat-Ferret 857
You really do end up with a lot more rabbits, I started using one a few months into the season, And it sort of takes the edge off you wondering where your ferret is! Wait till someday you dig and get 3 or 4 stopped up, Its great! Quote Link to post
StephOC 6
Hi everyone, thanks a lot for your replies. I've just bought a MK3 from IanB's contact. Sighthound - I have permission at Stirling Uni campus which is totally overrun... I have to be quiet about it - (no guns or dogs), must be away before 8am, (which means I'm into my 3rd coffee already today!) oh, and have to stay away from halls and any folk. How come you don't ferret it any more? I know other people do - (anyone else on here?) - I've seen where warrens have been dug up and replaced. I also have half of Dumyat, 2 farms >1000acres and some smaller fields and bits... can't wait to get this locator working on them! Quote Link to post

I was a student at stirling (Ecology) and used to run my dogs there but as you say you have to be away early, not all the students share the passion As for other people ferreting it, I know many people who do but none have permission Quote Link to post
stealthy1 3,964
You wont go wrong with a MK3M, a very nice bit of kit. Quote Link to post
