Tiff 36
I've got a Salxgrey pup that is almost 5 months now, but has almost no visible knuckle left to grow in to ... do the SalX's normally have knuckle to grow into, or is that not a factor to determine size with? This is my first SalX that I've had from a pup so I need some advice please Edited March 23, 2009 by His Wife Quote Link to post

undisputed 1,664
The whole knuckle thing is a myth nowt to do with growth.....at least thats what the vet told me. Quote Link to post
Guest AngelicAcid
Dogs DO grow into their knuckle, but some just keep on growing, and some never fully grow the full knuckle, at 5 months a sallukix has a good few months left . Quote Link to post

Tiff 36
Heyya HL, yes, "Noose" is whom I'm asking about, he is about 22" as well, bigger than the collie now but a couple of inches smaller than the Sal/StagX Tia ... I am hoping for more growth on him! He is a natural head dog, when wrestling and chasing he is lethal on the neck! weren't they were born about Halloween time? Our camera was away for servicing and we've just gotten it back last week, so will take and post a load of pics probably tomorrow. Has your bitch stopped screaming? Noose hasn't ... screaming isn't the right word ... incessant barking is more like it. If he's not with me or Kye, he barks. We've tried him in the house, in kennels, he is the same no matter where he is. He's better if I kennel him with someone, but will still periodically bark, and I don't like the "bonding" to another dog rather than us. I've never seen anything like it and am trying to figure out what to do about it! Anyone have any advice for me? Other than the noise (should rename him from Noose to Noise!) I REALLY like this pup, he is happy and forward amd nothing about his attitude says "Sulky Saluki" ... he is just awesome. He is teaching me a lot and has been a motivating factor for me, he gets a lot of one-on-one. And he loves the bathroom! When I brush my teeth or wash my face he tries to get the water, and if I'm in the shower I have to lock him out or he tries to rip the shower curtain down Edited March 23, 2009 by His Wife Quote Link to post

No she is a little bit better she only does it for a short time now but when she does she is a nightmare. If she is left along without another dog kenneled with her she starts screaming barking yapping she is torcher. Nothing I do will stop her either so looks like we are going to have to live with it. Look forward to seeing them pics I will put some up of Joop for you to see Regards Ben. Quote Link to post
dogman89 0
my vet told my mate his pup of 8 weeks oldwas getting to much protein casue of the size of its knuckles. i went to the same vet about 5 weeks later with a pup aged 8 weeks old and she told me it wasnt getting enough calcium cause it knuckles were to big. some vets dont have a bloody clue so im going to stick to the theory that big knuckles means more growth Quote Link to post

riohog 5,802
i tend to agree with the big knuckle thing meaning more growth generally most of the growing is done at 8 to9 months height wise there maybe more height to come but the growth wont be so vigorous balanced diet and exersise i wont run any of my dogs really hard untill about 14 months just my way! Tiff 36
the pup is on a well balanced flesh/fat/veg/grain diet (thanks to Socks training ) , so I don't feel he is getting too much nor not enough protein ... Ben, is your pup the same with her knuckle? Edited March 25, 2009 by His Wife Quote Link to post
