shot my first shot out of a 243,any tips?

fired my first ever shot out of my boyfriends 243 (i think its a shot gun i cant remember its all past me) anyway hes going to teach me how to shoot as i like trying new types of hunting, although at the moment i dont think its as fun as working my dog but we shal see

 

just want some tips, the basics pretty much....my first hurdle was the fact i cant wink so had to do it with one hand over my eye

your in the wrong section, you were right the first time, a .243 is a centre fire rifle, not an air rile.

And how the hell can you fire one of those with one hand over your eye?

If your fella's far enough into shooting to own a .243, why on earth can't he cover the basics? Odd!!

One major tip, don't cover your eye with your hand!

 

Just look through the scope, steady yourself then just before the shot, hold your breath to reduce the movement and fire. Job done. Don't shoot it at anything flying though, it's not a shotgun and the bullet will travel for miles if fired at the sky

I think I understand now ,I missed it first time round. You two are a circus act. He juggles your ferrets and dogs while you shoot his gun partialy blindfold!

That's fantastic! Where can I see you both perform? (do you supply body armor, or do I bring my own??)

Although rearly you bf should be teaching you the basics first hand, not you coming on here to ask others to teach you, after all hes the one with the .243 and so should know all the basics himself (if he dosnt he shouldnt be shooting).

 

But good for you for trying new things, but i would recomend staring on a .22lr far less recoil and far more leanient for learners.

yeah hes been teaching me the basics just wanted some advice from lots of diffrent people to see what you all would advice a new person to shooting to do

not trying to sound like god or saying i know everything about shooting but i think the mods should take this post off because to me this puts out totally the wrong mesge about shooting.and the people that shoot. oursport is under atack daily by antis and the press.so when you lads av a moan about laws and regs that limmit your shooting and your sport its down to people like this with alack of respect for firearms that make our laws so strict .as we can see in another post somebodi has lost their life with a air rifle imagine what dammage a 243 round could do by someone with 1 hand over their eye. i will get off my soap box now lads and hope you dont mind the little moan. happy hunting shaun.

hey mate thanks for agreeing i was abit unshure where to post that but im glad i did .to be honest i get people like that in my work every day that hold firearms licences and it reali does make you wonder. happy hunting.
