cyclonebri1 8
better to think your way than some folks i used to know that would shoot at a fox at any range, but mine differ. atb Exactly mate, I've seen these folks too, doesn't matter what the shotty's loaded with, if Foxy shows 50yds off he gets both barrels Good Hunting Quote Link to post
shottyscotty 3
3" 50 gram bb are perfect on foxes as i found out when walking along side the bay i shoot geese because i had my gun loaded when a old dog fox came out at 30 yards infront of me killed it clean with 1 shot with 3/4 choke Quote Link to post

SportingShooter 0
Lots and lots of opinions of shooting Foxes with shotguns, the reality is that is does happen and will continue to I use the shotgun from time to time for Foxes, depends on the circumstances really. I had a situation last year when a farmer was losing Geese to a Fox coming into the yard, bold as brass. The fox was used to it so he didn't see me sat in my car at 0510 the next morning. But the problem I had was that this was a farm yard, full of buildings and no place for a rifle that may ricochet. So the shotgun came out, 56gr of BB's, dropped him stone dead at 42 yards. If you keep the range, load and choke sensible, as has been said, then you can take a Fox to wherever you feel confident. I took a Fox back in October in broad daylight on a Pheasant shoot, both barrels loaded with an ounce on No.7 shot. But Foxy came in between 5-10 yards, bang, dead Just be sensible and be sure you can hit your target Quote Link to post
Deker 3,478
A shotgun is seldom my first choice for the fox but some situations dictate it...other times situations present!! Close, and a fairly heavy load is best! Quote Link to post

Guest JohnGalway
Andre Georgescu drops a fox at 90 yards with a bolt action shotgun in one of his videos, mind you I think it took two or three shots to do it. Not sure what my farthest is, I try to get in close to be sure of the kill, I'll shoot at 40 yards but I prefer 30 or under. 34 gram or 36 gram BB's are just the job. Quote Link to post
