Deker 3,478
Lots...always is, moves around my areas all the time..took another one out on Friday. I think we all have theories but I believe "Immunity" is banded about too much...just because Mixxy sweeps through a piece of land and some bunnies don't get it does not mean they are immune, there will always be boundaries and edges where mixxy does not reach. Inevitably there must be some level of immunity, simply by the law of averages, but I do not believe immunity is anywhere near as wide spread as may be the general suggestion. Just my opinion! Just my opinion! i only used 'immune' because i have shot rabbits and they have scares that look like they have had mixi, all round the eyes, etc. didnt want to eat them though, might not be completely clean  Quote Link to post
danebrewer10 6
to say there isn't myxomatosis where you are is piffle, it's everywhere, though rabbits are building a good resistance to it and it is becoming much less prevalent, though it does need the right conditions to become evident in a number of rabbits so that you can actually see it- obviously the sick and weak will be picked off by foxes and the like. also as others have said, you do see rabbits with scarring around the eyes where the fur doesn't grow, they've obviously had myxy in the past and have recovered from it, I try and leave those to pass on their resistance to the next generation... it really is a horrid disease and wouldn't wish it on any animal even a pest species...
