crow shooting today

while out crow shooting today i realised i had the cass crow caller in the jeep so when we had finished .i decided to give it a try out i put a crow on a flapper in a 20 acre feild with the jeep 30 yrds away with us in it and set the macdaddy call off and it was like a scene out of alfred hicthcocks film the birds bluddy worked realy well .surprised .

Hi just jumping on the thread here i have been asked to shoot some crows tomorrow problem is that i dont really know how to go about it??? i have decoyed them over drilling an barley etc but where this is they are nailing lambs (about 40 ish in the past week an a half) an its only grass if i was to put a pattern out would they still come in the same or would i be better off putting out an owl for them to mob??? or just try an pick them off with a rifle???? or try one of these callers?? any ideas?

try it because it should work as crows are territoirial and with mob other decoys or a owl decoy

try the owl first with a shot gun, also use the caller to replicate the crows mobbing, that should bring them in well. if you dont have much luck try a solitry crow decoy, sit back in a hide with your rifle and nail them as and when they pitch in. good luck and let us know how u get on

i havnt got one of the cass crow call things but i do have a cd with calls on an just plug speakers in to a walkman aint really used it yet so dont know if it works. yeh al keep you posted on how it goes headin out about 7 tomorrow mornin an al sit it out till i get bored trying different things.

On my permission the other day with the dogs and i noticed two barley fields were being badly hit by the rooks and crows so had a word with a mate who has a crow caller went there a couple of days later set up about half a dozen decoys and placed the caller underneath one of them patience was the key 25 minutes of nothing then they started coming in they were speaking to the caller could not believe it got a few but that day was more of an education and i am going to have another go this weekend will post how i got on.

 

Just to add the caller had crow come here' crow frenzy' young crow in distress' and crows attacking an owl the latter being the most effective.
