The 110 does it again

I had a call from a lady who had been using one of the squirrel cages that you put a bird feeder into. She had taken one squirrel out of a pair that were raiding her bird tabels/feeders, but could not entice the other one in.

 

The one she couldn't catch had started using all sorts of fancy tricks to get at the feeders including running the washing line, climbing walls, and at the end of its journey, using an ornamental beam which runs under the gable end of a barn type out building.

 

I went along this morning and listened with some amusement as the lady told me of the squirrels antics and determination to get to the feeders, apperently it was the Tom Cruise of the squirrel world in an episode of Mission Impossible.

 

No problem I said, I'll stick a 110 across that beam, just give me a call when we have a result.

 

So I did just that, using one of Master Hunters cubbies, I laid trap along the beam hoping for a straight run through, got back on my bike and waved the lady a cheerio. I would be back round some time next week to make sure all was correct, meantime she could watch the trap from the kitchen window several times a day.

 

When I got home, (10 mins or so later) my wife said you had a call, some lady about squirrels... I called back thinking she wanted to know how to open the trap in case of a catch or something. Nope. Well done!!! she screamed down the phone. Can you come and get the squirrel out of the trap now?

 

Off I went.

 

 

 

 

Caught perfectly across the back of the neck.

 

One very pleased customer.

Yep, spray paint or dip, apparently there is very little difference in performance. I speed dipped mine for the first time ever this year, but I do have several cans for spray paints for next time

Yeh my bodygrips are done in 'vauxaull leaf green',,Sprayed them that coular when i was trapping a lake for mink to make them blend in a bit more,, away from praying eyes a little better.

I think the amount of vauxhall leaf green sold in this country must keep that paint company in business!

 

It was a pretty fast catch, especially as I had not seen the little sod before hand - so much for Tom Cruise huh?

I see you got the little safty catch on your 110,they make setting them a bit easier don't they?used to scare me sometimes when setting them and you had to keep hold of the dog,i have had a few near misses with them,not now though with the safty catch

Yep, never had an accident since I started using them, (fingers crossed, touch wood and all that)

 

It makes life a lot easier to keep your hands above the trap when slipping them off

Whats wrong with compressing your spring arm, fitting the spring arm safety then setting/adjusting your dog trigger as required , after all its already fitted to a bodygrip for that purpose...once set fine, remove catch from spring arm...
