Kay 3,709
Think most use an Albino Quote Link to post
stealthy1 3,964
Albino would be my first choice, second would be a light polecat, are you going to try these matings or just looking to see what other people think? Quote Link to post
pencoed hunter 7
Albino all the way ;) Quote Link to post
The one 8,457
Albino if the sandies carrying silver genes it might cause problems Quote Link to post
droid 11
Nothing. You're just keeping a lethal gene in the ferret gene pool. Quote Link to post
stubby 175
so how are black eyed whites bred? anybody? thats opening up yet another can of worms, as poorly marked silvers can moult out to an albino coat, thus looking like a black eyed white as you put it, I have two jills here that could easily pass as BEW's, which then starts the disscussion, do BEW's really exist, or are they moulted out silvers Quote Link to post
stubby 175
iv been told that an albino an a silver mating will produce BEW kitts have done this pairing two seasons on the trot, with 3 silver jills, never produced BEW'S only silvers, albino's and polecat, not saying it cant be done, but someone could mistake a poorly marked silver, as a BEW Quote Link to post
pigeonphill 69
how did silvers come about in the first place ,any one know ,what breeding etc . i know the usa are big in the pet side of ferrets so they may have bred them first Quote Link to post
droid 11
iv been told that an albino an a silver mating will produce BEW kitts have done this pairing two seasons on the trot, with 3 silver jills, never produced BEW'S only silvers, albino's and polecat, not saying it cant be done, You won't. The white of albinos and the white of BEWs has different origins. Colour in animals is due to cells called 'melanocytes'. These produce melanin which gives the ferret its' colour. Albinos have melanocytes but they aren't 'switched on'. BEWs dont have melanocytes. Quote Link to post
Penda 3,341
Iv had some nice colours by putting a realy dark polecat over a silver Quote Link to post

adzi_73 0
why dont you just put a silver against a silver is it true about the kits been deformed?? Quote Link to post
