Out with Butler, Sean1 and Logan off here this morning, had an early start as we has a good distance to travel, this was the last farm Butler had to do pest control on this season so we thought we'd get a couple of digs for the dogs and at the same time get rid of the foxes as the sheep are having young and then give the dogs a rest over the summer. We arrived at the farm at 6.30 and checked all the usual 'bankers', nothing at home in any today which was a surprise, the last spot we checked the dogs wanted in so we collared my 'brock' dog up and away he went, after 20 minutes we got a mark at 3 foot so down we went, the ground was boney but was a nice steady dig, we broke through and the dog moved, after half an hour or so of moving about we got another mark at 3 foot right at the base of an oak? tree, the dog stayed there for a while so we started down, it was hard going from the off, surface roots being replaced by even thicker roots the further down we went, about 1 foot from breaking through everything went very quiet underneath us so we had a check with the box but they were still there, fearing the worst we sped up the pace but as we broke through my fears were realised and the dog was limp, after some clearing about we managed to get him loose and try and resusitate him but it was to no prevail, he was gone, f*****g gutted. I let the lads sort out the stop end where there was two in the pot, one was dead and the other sat behind it...the dog had pushed in so tight he had suffocated himself and the fox, f*****g sick...but the dog died doing what he was bred for and stuck to his guns till the end which is all I could ask...RIP Brock...

Sounds like a true "little dog with a big heart" sorry for your loss but i bet your proud of him! like someone else said at least he went doing something he loved :notworthy: have only been out a few times with terriers but they are amazing dogs and can't believe how much heart they actually have. RIP
