locators

Recommended Posts

Todays technology has made things ten times easier for the terrierman with locators like the bellman and flint I would say a must for a terrier going to ground . many of these earths can be treacherous and very dangerous places for a dog as you know with risks of earths collapsing geting stuck and thats before it has to deal with its quarry.I personally would not dream of putting a dog to ground without a locator allthough some people claim to do this I cant see how it would be possible to get a mark to dig to as you know even with a locator you can dig for hours and still be off course. Many a terriers life must have been saved due to these locators . The problem I would imagine is the price for most of working class terriermen its not everyone whose got a spare two hundred quid to spare but what youve got to ask yourself is how much is the dog worth to you before you put it to ground collarless.

i absolutly agree with you!

i'm working class, i own two lurchers and three ferrets, i do rabbiting mainly for the pot but also as a hobby, i wouldn't dream about putting an animal that i valued dog or ferret underground without a locator on, in this day an age where these options are available to us i honestly think we owe it to our working partners to use them.

also admittedly they are very expensive but you re use them, providing you maintain them well - so when you think that this collor could not only save my dog/ferret from harm but also last for years
