Mine used to do same, but after a bit of perseverence they release.

Try having a plastic bag of cubed cheese in pocket,Repeatadly shout 'DEAD' while offering piece of cheese and lifting rabbit upwards from him.

If cheese doesn't work try something you know he really likes.

Repeatedly shout "DEAD", thats going to go down a treat whilst out lamping. On a serious note just tap the dog on the nose or pries the rabbit free with your fingers whilst saying leave or what ever command you choose, it will soon get the message. But don't forget if its he's first catches, loads of praise even when you are trying to get your bunny back.

Thank you to all of you for your suggestion's i will take them on board and try them,he has caught some where in the region of 200 hundred rabbits but still will not let go otherwise he's a good little dog thanks again

Then I would be more prone to prizing them free forcing your finger to push he's lips into he's teeth whilst saying "leave" or your command and praising him when he does. I have a Whippet/Greyhound bitch that does this occasionally and I find forcing my finger pushing her gums into her teeth is quick and needs to be done less as the evening goes on.

Is the catch live or Dead? Is it damaged?

some times live then some times dead

SIMPLE, teach the dog a 'leave' command..........easily done

some of the replys of pushing the dog gum against in teeth, and feeding cheese or even squeezing his bollock are not good
