To be honest with you Ive come accross a lot of breeders that will tell you the parents of there pups will do this and that just to sell you a pup. They wont.There is probably a small few. Ive met up with a crazy man (fox hunter) hopefully the bitch gets a cance to prove something next season coming. Hope I dont offend anyone,but this is as honest as I can be. i had one glenn dog few years back he came much to big to work fox and was not much good at draw.. he mated a patterdale bitch coz he broke his gate and got her only kept one just for the crack and he proved good and worked hard for to seasons he died in the ground got in to tight spot was long dig to him but he was bred from good black stuff. just interested in seen if the glenn is still game or are they gone for a reason? cheers mate Quote Link to post

Got my first glenn 25 years ago kept them for about 12 years, most of them are shit, had one that came from ireland that was half decent but wanted to fight any dog he saw. Quote Link to post

kirstysdad 827 Posted March 20, 2009 Report Share Posted March 20, 2009 my hunting partner had a bitch a few years ago witch was ill as a pup and because of that stayed realy small this bitch went to ground was very hard and killled most of the foxes she got to great bitch at the end of a dig also for to draw one father was brought over from ireland he was to big for earth work but handy at the end very game dog no reverse but very aggressive around other dogs bred bitch to a lakie but pups did not amount to much bitch got killed while working some cover and got hit by train Quote Link to post

Which big lad are you talking about. The Glenn with the red nose is a little over 40lb in weight. She is too big to go to ground. The big lad in the middle of the last pic is deffo too big to go too ground,his glasses might get all steamed up. The male pup is staying very low to the ground,he is around 11 inches short.He is a bit wide in the chest.He could stay small enough. You never know. Hope you dont mind the bit of humour.ATB Ray. She is nearly 16 inches tall.The fella that bred her and sold her to me said she was from 2 IKC reg parents,because shes a dudley I would get no papers and could I keep his name from breeding the dog.I got her cheep.He wasnt into putting her down as a pup. There could be something else in her. The male pup on both sides are IKC reg I have papers for him. A fella in Cork called aomin dobbin bred the mother and father of my pup.With some of these breeders they do tend to breed in different dogs to there pure breds and start to breed it out. Hopeing to get a certain look to there dogs.So you could be right on the little pup aswell. The parents of the male pup is Sire Knockroe big boy and Dam is knockroe Adventurer. lee micheal kennels 12 Posted March 21, 2009 Author Report Share Posted March 21, 2009 (edited) Were the Glen of Immal terriers not just a smaller version of the wheaten terriers used to handle quarry from a stop end to a dig before the days of the locator when terriers bayed up and held their quarry at range and often were dug too by ear and therfore not right on top, I understood it to be that they were never an earth dog made to travel from about ground to belowm as a fell or border. So they are probably not being worked any more and therefore working types would not exist. yeah smaller wheaten.. but were bred go to ground like most terriers with legs like that.. to run setts back when legal..
