lilvixen 26
My husband is looking for a bit of advice regarding B/W springer stud dogs. Have been looking into using Deepfleet Jay. Has anybody used him over their bitch or seen anything by him? Any other suggestions for a B/W stud are welcome. He does realise he's cutting down his options specifically wanting to use a B/W dog. He's a gamekeeper and keeps mumbling about maybe trialling a pup out of the bitch. She is by Belvden Brewers Grave (Laganmill MaestroX Maylands My Jolly Tune of Belvden) and her dam goes back to Wenmouth Breac and Cressett Cristo. Quote Link to post

druimmuir 1
Thats a nice bitch line you have there, I would 2nd the suggestion made by ESS. Another to consider would be the b/w dog listed here :- http://www.willclulee.co.uk/menupage.htm Kenmilquin Flyer, a nice going dog and in keeping with your irish bitch lines Quote Link to post

Whitehope Liquorice is another very nice dog and one I would consider using but I have Kenmilquin Flyer on my doorstep so can get plenty of matings......don't get me wrong it is not just a distance thing as he was my first choice of stud...it's just a great bonus he is just up the road from me. A mate has a dog out of Deepfleet Jay and he is a very nice dog......Jay impressed me at the championships and I was suprised he only got a DOM ( Conholt ) as he looked very very good with some nice retrieves to cap it off too. I have a B/W dog who is half brother to Jay, he is out of FTCH Rytex Raggamuffin who is the sire of Deepfleet Jay and he is a natural, taking to training with ease and won his first FT award at just 13 months old against soem good competition, he also just picked another COM at an Open test. He will trial in earnest this coming season. He has a soft mouth, soft nature, honest, stylish, fast and marks so very well that every shot bird he has marked he needs no handling to help him out, I do like the dog alot. Where abouts in the country are you? Edited March 21, 2009 by Creccamarsh Quote Link to post
willow1 0
I have always thought that Newflame Jedi is a nice looking BW FTCH. My BW pup is out of a mating with Raven Inquest and she is a lovely marked bitch Quote Link to post

Where abouts in the country are you? Thank you Drummuir and Creccamarsh for your replies, all very helpful. I'm Suffolk/cambridgeshire borders. Would travel for the right dog though. Am I right in thinking Kenmilquin Flyer is worcestershire way? I would travel for the right dog. Deepfleet Jay was a dog I had been told about and had heard he ran well at Conholt plus he's only about an hour from me. Sounds like your dog by Rytex Ragamuffin is coming on well, what breeding is the Dam? Quote Link to post

willow1 0
She is coming along well at present. im not rushing things but she sits to voice, whistle and hand command and retrieves well at present. Im working more on the quartering at present but she seems to be so much more responsive then my other Springer, but im not sure if this is because i have more experiance now with the 2nd dog. I can see a difference with her and i deff, have more eye contact with this one, again not sure if its the dog or due to me being that little bit more asscertive with my commands etc. THe Father in law kept 2 dogs back from the litter and they are big strong springers and very powerful and they were not the biggest pups in the litter at the time but they were all well marked Quote Link to post

Sounds like your dog by Rytex Ragamuffin is coming on well, what breeding is the Dam? Hi, The dam is Bonniemore Summer of Simba, Pete Avery's hard going brood bitch. She goes back to Cressett, Parkbeck , Rytex Rod etc.....and she destroys cover....thats why he bought her as he believed her to be the hardest going in heavy cover that he had seen. If Jay is that close then he is a very good dog to use. Kenmilquin Flyer will be in Cheltenham when I use him but Will Clulee's place is in Worcetershire. I am having him brought down to Edgegrove to have the mating carried out by Jeremy Organ and will mate the bitch as often as we can, hence the reason for the dog being brought down to Edgegrove. Thanks for that Creccamarsh, bit of a pain as I did live in gloucestershire until a couple of years ago. I shall probably see how i get on with Deepfleet Jay as he's not far away. I've sent a copy of my bitches pedigree to Pete Avery to see what he says. I see he has a young b/w dog at stud by Jay out of Bonniemore Summer of Simba that he will be trialling this year. Jeremy has the room to keep my bitch and the stud there ( to mate her as many times as possible ) and has a good knowledge when it comes to getting a good mating as the stud is very in-experienced and Jeremy doesn't mind getting his hands dirty Plus the dog is back with the owner at the moment and he has no knowledge of matings so Jeremy offered to get it sorted at his place, to make life easier and have a better chance of a succesful mating. But from the sounds of things you know Jeemy anyway so you will know how helpful he is, as well as his knowledge. Quote Link to post
