new scope for the .223

Recommended Posts

i've looking to get a scope to be used on my .223 for dialing in targets out to extended ranges.

so the question is what scope to get. i needs it to have:

- a variable mag up to 20x

- target turrets with reliable tracking

- 1/4 or 1/8 moa adjustment

- a normal duplex reticle (although mildot or something close would be ok, just not to cluttered)

- 40-50mm objective

- 1" or 30mm tube (i'm not bothered)

- as decent optics as possible

the price limit is under £400.

so people, any suggestions???

Falcon Optics. In that price range, I doubt you'll beat it, unless you can find a secondhand Leupold in good nick.

I had a Falcon which I sent to my brother. It was great. Optically pretty good - not in the same league as Leupold +, but bearable. It also had accurate adjustments, and you can get metric adjustments to go with your metric (mildot) reticle. Recommended.

Hawke VarmintII 4-16x44...this seems to fit the bill pretty close and saves you a load of money....

Bought this as temporary about 4 weeks ago, I already have the 3-12x44 version on my .22LR, great scopes!

You may have seen the picture of the scope on my HMR and what it can do...I'll try and get the pictures up again later.

Obviously still have box etc, list price of the above is £133.90 plus delivery, this package is all but brand new and I will ship anywhere in mainland UK for £85, saving nearly £50 on list and more with free delivery.

Feel free to ask any questions!!

Cheers

You'll get a nice scope for £400 buddy ;) . I use Bushnell , I have a 4200 6-24X50 with target turrets and mildot on my 223 and a 4200 2.5-10x50 on my 308 both 30mm tubes both bought second hand.

I would say for hunting forget target turrets (to bulky).

Check .....http://www.airgunbbs.com/forums/ sales section and http://www.guntrader.co.uk/EquipmentForSale/. There is a few good scopes for sale on both sites. You may have to join BBS .

Or as said Falcon Optics as good http://www.falconoptics.com/menace4.5-18x56.php.

All the best :D
