:realmad: It makes no difference at all what wood you use because you can black your thumb with any wood.

the most common wood will be hazel but obvisly anything with the shape u or y in it pour some candle wax or glue on the ends of the stick to prevent it from cracking whilst drying. leave them to dry for 6 months minimum

 

then drill holes and secure lastic surgical flatband square

i was just saying that if he is going to make one then i think it is best to make it out of something hard and resilient that can cope with the pressure and shouldnt split

you can black youre thumb with any y style catapult without a wrist brace be it wood or metal (if youre not careful)
