hmm, interesting?? i seen a few of your posts martin and i noticed your not far from bath. my father is sure he seen a big cat near leigh delamara services around 3 years ago maybe 4 now...could it be???? was this deer found near where you live martin if so where by my father travels around bath quite alot doing his job hes a courier and gets to see alot of wildlife on his travels...

I have seen a big cat very near the area that the Deer is in,albeit about 7-8yrs ago.I didn't tell anyone about it for about 3 months, and then a bloke I knew told me he had seen one on the other side of the valley, and,I then told him about the one I had seen.I know that I will probably get a bit of shit over this, but,I know what I saw, and,it wasn't a fleeting glimpse either. But,saying that I really don't think it was a big cat kill if I am honest, there is a small laneway about 100yds away, and,it is possible that it was in an RTA,even though there was no obvious signs.

But,it is an odd one though, and, after all who knows.......................'M'

whats an RTA martin? them cats are more than definetly about i believe my father he dont believe in much bulshite he hates a liar more then a thief so hes not going to lie and im sure others on here who claim to have seen one alot of them dont lie about it either, but on the other hand you will get the odd pill head illucinating :clapper: anyways i hope you come across one of them big cats whilst stalking and get a photo of 'it' to prove alot of people wrong...

An 'RTA' is a road traffic accident mate. And,if I see one while I am out with the rifle I will be dropping it on the spot for sure.

I will also add that I went there today and it had been dragged 20+yds and now it is virtually all been eaten.........

And,I still say that is a lot of meat to have been eaten in less than 24hrs.

it is a lot of meat to be eaten but if you break it down its not a couple of brocks can eat a full grown sheep in a night i have seen what they can do first hand sitting in a high seat waiting for a fox to come to the sheep and watched the badgers eating in the nv monical

i cant see it being a big cat a panther jagur cogur lepord will take its kill to the tree the deer is/was 24 hours old when you took the photos look at the eyes they were not sunk the only way you will find out is by a print i would be serching for the one print to tell the tail

few foxes id say, martin do you have permission to shoot on the land? if so if you find another like it then set up a hide? the thing is though not how much the meat has gone BUT how did it die in the first place?? dont think a badger would catch a deer and lets be honest they're not the best animals in the world at stalking prey are they? more than 1 fox maybe i doubt 1 would hold a roe down unless it was a really big hungry fox! hmmm its pretty interesting? could it be some arseholes with dogs catching, killing and leaving them?

compare the first shots of this deer to a REAL big cat kill

only way it could have been a big cat is if it was frightened away from its dinner.. a big cat, undisturbed, would have consumed the whole carcass in a short while, would have also dragged it into a hiding spot - i know thats already been mentioned-

i would agree with the others who said foxes and badgers .... along with the usual bugs that eat this sort of things, certain types of beetles, ants, worms, maggots, etc etc

I went to see the kill with Martin but he was physically shaking and wanted to hold my hand so we came away smartish :clapper: .The ground is unfortunately very dry so no prints .My money would be on a natural death from gangrene from that black back leg or secondary infection at least and the carcass has been eaten by foxes ,badgers .The amount of cleared ground says to me the beast thrashed about a bit before dying but then again ,who wouldnt .The bones chewed on the ends is classic fox and the pulling about about in the last pics are also classic fox behaviour .
