WitchyWoo 0
Hi everyone, I have a 7year old female Greyhound called Peggy Sue and I am desperately trying to understand her. She is the first Hound we have ever had, our other dog is nutty English Springer!!! We have had her for less than a year, on the whole she is simply adorable but she really does have a witchy side to her!!!! I thought that they mainly chased their prey but this weekend our two dogs were staying with friends, they have stayed before, and our friends have two cats which PS has chased before to no end, thank goodness, but this time she hunted the cat out in the garden shed got herself in and attacked Now she had NOT seen the cat at all prior to this but had obviously smelt it, my friends husband managed to free the cat but it bolted and hasn't been seen since, the cat had certainly had a good go back but is this normal, do they hunt and could it be that she has been used for something other than racing???? Please someone help me understand what I have so that I can make her life as happy as it can be. She is wonderful with all our friends and family and seems to love children just not furry things, esp when she sees them first. Look forward to hearing from someone WitchyWoo! WitchyWoo 0
Hi, Thank you for the welcomes, I was hoping for a little more feed back on my Greyhound just so I completely understand her. I am not into shooting etc but love working dogs and have an English Springer who does Flyball and Agility so does work, just differently, I work with him every day. Hope you don't mind having a non shooter on board.

Hello Witchywoo. And welcome. Greyhounds and lurchers of all X breeds are sighthounds and as far as they are concerned anything that is smaller than them and moves is a 'chase it and chew it'.But that doesn't that they have a poor sense of smell. Its just not quite as keen or relied on as other breeds. I bet your springer spends most of its time nose down and tail up. Her eyes are keener than a lot of breeds and thats what she'll use most, but will still check for scents, that's how she'll have found the cat and having seen and cornered it went for the kill. watch a few vids of working lurchers you'll see what I mean. >>>>>
