Couple of hours local ratting

Recommended Posts

We had an invite out this weekend with Nettlerash's son and his girlfriend, to have a mooch about a farm near us. Made a nice change not to set off at dawn to arrive at a reasonable time :D We were accompanied by his girlfriends two collies and his mate. I was really impressed with the way the collies marked, they had been here themselves previously and certainly knew the ropes.

Red remembered this spot from the last time

we had a bit of a panic on here, rosie went under a metal floored container after a rat, and got herself well and truly stuck - the floor had dropped on part of it and she was wedged in

after a bit of thought, it was decided to try and dig under the cabin and try and pull her out, which seemed to do the trick, along with a wooden leaver put under the floor to try and lift it up slightly

unfortunately for us the farmer had cleaned the sheds out the week before, and accounted for quite a few rats, so todays bag was not big, but the dogs worked hard for the rats they caught, and a couple of large nests of young uns were accounted for

Had a very enjoyable morning out, and what a change only to have to go 10 minutes up the road. We have another invite out next weekend, I'm really looking forward to it :victory:

collie is showing a plummer how it should be done in that first picture :clapper::clapper:

not quite big bald beautiful, the collie was remembering what had bolted there the last time it was there, when a load of rats bolted out of the shed. The farmer had cleaned the shed out the week before we got there and there were no rats in that bit ;)

Great post and love the pictures, Couple of very nice collies there.

The were lovely collies, I really liked them, very good natured, unlike some can be (I have one) and they did very well at the ratting. At one point we bolted a couple of rabbits out from under some rubbish - first I thought it was a giant rat :icon_eek::laugh: off they went on the chase giving it yip all the way :D
