My favourite bait/method is pop up boilies fished on the surface with a controller float although it's not always the most successful method it certainly gets your heart pumping as a big mouth comes up out of the depths. I also had quite a few fish last year on Dynamite Baits Halibut Boilies.

source boilies and halibut pellets are working really well at the mo,

sweet corn soaked overnight in syrup or mollasses, and monster crab pop ups are also doing the business for me too.

My favourite though has to be taking them off the surface with a piece of bread flake or mixer biscuit, you can't beat the anticipation as you see those big rubber lips sucking it in, waiting for just the right moment to strike,

On a calm water you cant beat a good lump of bread in my opinion! It has never let me down in the past and its great to watch your take!

ive had them on halibut pellet before but dog food or cat food takes the beeting some places have banned it because it catches so much try it

 

It's not been bannned because it catches so much it's been made because in the amounts that some anglers were using it, it was causing all sorts of problems with the water quality and putting the fishes health at risk.

this is nothing special here but iv had big bags of carp where all the boilies and other fancie bits and bobs get used day in day out, a couple of earthworms on a size 12 or 14 hook to sensas black magic ground bait... at least i think its sensas
