Hollie 21
Me and my partner have split and he is going to take the computer, there is about 5000 photos that i want to copy from computer, what size USB memory stick would i need? I did think about putting them onto disk so that i can keep my new computer (when i eventually get one) relatively clog free from years worth of photos, however, i don't think i will be able to get them all off and in order on disk!! Shooter08 0
Id Go For a Good Couple Of Gigabytes If You Have 5000! 4Gb Should Be Enough Or Maybe Even 2, Depends On The Size On Your Photos! You'll Pick Em Up At Tescos For About £10+ Edited March 15, 2009 by Shooter08

SEAN3513 7
sorry to hear your news. i wouldn't bother with a usb memory stick....you will probably need a few ( depends on the size of the photos) for 60 -70 quid you will be able to get a stand alone hard drive with lots and lots of gig. ( pc world have reasonable priced ones) hope this helps all the best sean

Malt 379
Have you thought about making a data DVD? A standard DVD R is 4.7 gig, (I think!) you should be able to get plenty of photos onto one of those. You could also upload your photos to something like photobucket, although it would take some time to upload 5000 odd!

Halfinch 51
Buy the biggest one you can afford, 8gb should do for what you need, but mobile storage is cheap now and always handy to transfer stuff.,
pencoed hunter 7
Just get a 8 gig USB stick that's what I got. Should be plenty

SportingShooter 0
I've recently had a similar dilemma. I have a fairly new laptop and transferring all the photos from the old one to the new would take forever using the memory stick I already had. I had accumulated over 2000 which I would never have guessed at! Anyway, I went into PC World and they had an external hard drive, plug it in to your USB and its ready. It was 1 Terrabyte in size Thats 1000GB. Now your thinking that must have cost hundreds. £ and all the storage I'm likely to need for years! Plus I've just bought an SLR camera so it will be handy for that. Worth considering SS
SwissTony 0
Most cameras take photos which are larger than 1 meg, I just checked my sisters camera, which is a 8 megapixel jobby, files are around 3-3.5 meg which works out at over 17gig for 5000 photos, so it may be wise to get 1x16 gig and 1x 8 gig. Both usb pen available from play 16gig stick for £15.49 including delivery and the 8 gig for £8.99 Check the file size to see how big each file is. (right click the icon for the picture - click properties) It should say Location, size and size on disk. Edited March 15, 2009 by SwissTony
