witton 6
Got an invite off chris hickling the other day to do a spot of ferreting with him and rew.... Was a Cracking day......we had the 3 young dogs out with us... Was good to see hicklings dog mac doing a job you would never expect from a big wheaton cross and doing it very well.....much better than my bitch, the trip did her good tho she is green to ferreting and still has a long way to go, had a chat with chris tho and he gave me some pointers to sharpen her up so im going to see what happens. Rews bitch fly didnt disapoint either she put up some excellent good sport like allways, He is really doing good with that bitch and i very much envy him lol She could be a world beater if she carries on the way she is going We dropped the ferrets in a good few hedgerow sets....dropping the odd net and leaving the odd hole to provide the dogs the odd run.. We ended up with 13......2 caught by mac and fly and the rest either dug to or caught with the nets.... All in all we had a very enjoyable day....Myself Rew Chris and im sure the keeper enjoyed it to... Helped him out removing a thew rabbits and gave him some banter... It was a pleasure to meet the bloke, He had some cracking shooting storys to share and let us have a shot with his 222 bullet rifle....looked like he enjoyd getting stuck in with the ferrets and seeing the dogs work. Rew after dig trying to pull the rabbit out not a deep dig but was a strugle as the rabbit rapped its self around some hawthorn root and really wedged its self in,, He went abit blue in the face struggleing to get it out lol So chris had to jump in and have a crack Finally he pulled it out....the rabbit ended up with a back leg skinned trying to pull him out... Fly with the catch after gutting End of day shot Me the Keeper and Rew Chris wouldnt get in the photo lol The keeper let me and rew have a shot with his 222 bullet rifle...At a coke can lol And rew having a look down the scope getting a feel for the gun didnt get a pic of him shooting it as the cam ran out of charge.... A photo of the can n cartrige when i got back home lol Rew missed And i got the shot....it must of been begginers luck lol Was a highlight of the day for me getting the chance to have a shot for the first time on a rifle It was a cracking day and Thanks alot for the invite Chris And thanks for the the keeper letting us get stuck in with some decent sport Witton Edited March 15, 2009 by witton Quote Link to post

FERRETBOY 680
nice write up witton ,i look joke in those photos .it was a good day so thanks for the invite chris ,mac was a pleasure to watch and full of gameness nothing detered him from crashing through some of the thickest of thorn bushes.keep up the work with bracken witton ,we'll have a nights lamping again when we have abit of rain to finish of the season. That little hob of mine worked a treat all day ,quick like his mum used to be but powerfull like his dad there isnt much getting away from him, great little nose on him he knows when theres summet at home or not.I know his brother chris kept back is the same.fly again did me proud i can see her marking gettin better with every outing .i think the keeper enjoyed a different kind of ferreting from his usual bolt and blast approach with the shotgun. thanks again chris for the invite i'll see you tomorrow. good hunting rew Quote Link to post
