Guest Merlin
I've seen a very old one longnetting and it was superb The latest ones have ausie cattle dog blood in according to the adverts. Merlin who posts on here has the older type im sure Out and Out rabbit dogs IMO I use mine for Daytime work mostly, Superb ferreting and bushing dog, Bred for brains more than speed but they arent slooowww but depends what you want them for. Like Rattingaddict said a litter was bred recently using a Kelpie cross But there are a few people who are still sticking to the collie greyhound cross and doing their best to use stock containing least 25% of the old lines. Depends on what you want the dog to do, suits me but wont suit everyone Quote Link to post
Simoman 110
I have seen dogs of his line, all three were soley used for ferreting and daytime work and were excellent. By the owners admission the dogs weren't good enough for hare and didn't like fox. Quote Link to post
Straightline 0
My first bitch was off a guy form Cwmbran. He had a bitch called emma out of a mixed mating from merle, fathom and penguin. He put tony ahearnes rusty back to her the resultant of which i had a pup. She was silver merle, 23" a cracking rabbiting dog day n night but that was it, very soft mouthed. Did me proud at the time as I was only 13/14. Quote Link to post
juckler123 707
I had two half brother and sister to fathom both good allrounders day or night rabbit hare fox n deer imho all his best dogs were around at that time and all were bred from a large deerhoundx called grip that terry aherne kept at his place in retirement i think he lost the plot and ended up with rabbiting dogs instead of complete lurchers breeding a lurcher strain certainly aint easy that dog rusty was in my opinion a lot better stamp of collie greyhound for a breeding program than merle and i believe plummer knew this but went with the merle for marketing and his own stamp Quote Link to post
