Guest rattingaddict
My terriers have been pushing a few out of cover and old rubbish for the last week or so, upto now they have always slipped down tiny mouse sized holes or bolted before the dogs see em. today i took 2 1 bolted and my dog pup took it as it tried climbing a tree (great if i had a video) the other my bitch pup and my older dog dug out from under some old tin sheets and carpet. they dont half stink..the stoats not my dogs Anyone else like hunting the little speed machines Quote Link to post
Guest Keeps
Im not sure its legal to hunt stoats any more but when it was my lot liked hunting them we spent a whole weekend breaking the pups to ferrets only to have them find and kill a couple of stoats the very next day Quote Link to post
borderterrier 0
From the internet:- Remember also that hunting all other animals (including mice, stoats, weasels, squirrels, mink and foxes) will be illegal unless carried out as described below. The use of terriers above ground for flushing wild mammals to gunsProviding you have permission from the landowner, up to two terriers can be used to flush your quarry from cover above ground (which could be undergrowth, woodland etc.). The quarry must then be shot dead as soon as possible by a “competent personâ€. The Hunting Act doesn’t specify what a competent person is but it is likely a court would expect them to (a) have an appropriate licensed weapon and (b, be able to prove that they have competently shot and killed the quarry species in the past. Good flushing everyone. Quote Link to post
Guest Mr Keeps
On the last occasion I can remember as clearly as if it happened today  a stoat had the misfortune to run past one of the pups darting into some brambles, not quickly enough for the pup though, who dived on it and despatched it very quickly Quote Link to post

coneycatcher17 3
I like them as I rarely see them and think it is wrong to kill them as they kill a substantial amount of rats. I v seen them weaving threw stone walls like rockets.magic to watch. theres a section in the real terriers hard workers book by d.comiotto. on the stoat hunting I think Quote Link to post
