John-B 4
I paid a £5 for some of mine but what price do you put on a good working ferret? ,but i would like to see them worth more it might keep the idiots and arseholes out our sport theres not enough money about to buy the hob ive got at present.apart from it being an absolute treasure to work and own,hes made a really good stud.ive got my mates jill in with him now,she is also a good grafter.wether these kits get selt on(which i dont think they will).they wont be cheap.you pay good money for a good animal imo and i wont just sell them to any tom ,dick or harry.i like them to go to a good working home and preferably to people i know will look after them they way they deserve to be True, these little critters won't be sold at Haswell market or free to good home in the Ad Trader, lets hope she has a big litter so we can hit those permissions really hard next season Quote Link to post
Sighthound 49
Ive never charged a penny for a ferret. I have however refused to give them to people many times. Quote Link to post
caterpiller 10
In my opinion, Ferrets are well undervalued. A GOOD FERRET is worth it's own weight in Gold, it will give you season after season of pleasure. Once you have worked with your Little Rabbiting partner for a while, you can tell if they are onto a Rabbit, lost a Rabbit etc...... and i would never part with a GOOD ONE at any price Quote Link to post
RaiderBoy 19
i had my ferret from an rspca shelter in newport and when i was there, there was about 30 ferrets looking for homes.they had all been dumped or abandoned do you think people should charge more than £30 for ferret ? because they are seen as expendable by some people and are just left in buries when they dont come out for an hour I have never charged anyone for a ferret and I have never bred ferrets for the purpose of selling them I only breed to replenish my own stock and the surplus I give to decent people for nothing. I only breed my best worker to worker and never for colour only working ability. This is the way to stop ferrets ebding up discarded. If there is no need to breed then jab or use a vasectomsied hob. Putting up the price of ferrets will do nothing. Well i think it wont do much but it will put off some of the arseholes that just buy a ferret work it once and if it fails to bolt anything just leave it in a box in a carpark to die. i also think not selling them to any tom, dick and harry just people that you know will take care of it would be a better option than free to good home in the freeads Quote Link to post
Halfinch 51
I don't think the price of a ferret would make any difference to whether people look after them or not, look at the pedigree dogs that get shoved from piller to post, I have give away a few ferrets to friends and people from this site, one got me 18,000 acres of permission. , Others have promised me stuff, but never follow up. All my ferrets have been free, but they live a great life because i care for my ferrets, not just an investment, if ferrets were a lot of money people would be breeding them wholesale, crammed in cages. I will be breeding my best working hob this year, soley because i'm hoping he will produce at least a couple of good workers, (He is a fantastic worker) the ones that don't make the grade will be going free to, hopefully good homes, Quote Link to post
