tony d 0
hello mate i would think really the word would have little importance as the dog only recognises the word and then knows what you are asking them to do. i would just pick a word and keep repeating this anytime before the action that you are expecting it to do like you would any other command and the dog will soon learn to recognise it. cheers tony Edited March 23, 2009 by tony d

wexford Pa 84
Once u got him retrieving. then start takin him out in a field put him on a slip n throw the dummy and walk up to where u threw the dummy n slip him on it.. That how did it with my pups n it worked wit them.. but when there workin they'l soon know to look out for squatters.. As for pickin a command word, i wudnt have one. U dont wanna have to say anythin to your dog when sneakin up on a squatter.. Atb.. Pa

cumbye 36
Just wondered the best way to train pup to look out for squatters? and what word people use to tell dog there is one? cheers When your walking the field and you see a squatter the pup is looking up the beam to see if it can spot a rabbit running, well it obiously can"t cause its squat.Lift the lamp up above your head, and shine the light directly on the rabbit so its dark all around and only the squat rabbit is aluminated.Keep walking as close as you can go to it(ive picked them up my self and the dog still hasn"t clocked them) soon as it moves slip.It should be caught very quickly. Keep repeating this on every squatter, the dog will soon cotten on.....Gd luck
